The mystical name of Dolpo comes to mind when the Shey-Phoksundo Lake is mentioned. The lake has become internationally famous due to advernturers who have made the Dolpo region and its Shey Gompa (monastery) and the Phoksundo Lake their questing haunts and research and study target areas. Also the indigenous and rare snow leopard has added to the magic of this region, and its another unique fauna, the blue sheep, also lure visitors to this region.
