The majestic Mount Chomolangma (Everest) with an altitude of 8,848 meters, is located in the middle section of the Himalayas in southern Tingri County of Tibet. Its perpetually snow-capped peak is truly spectacular with many glaciers and sharp ice precipices. The mountain, together with its many sister peaks (4 above 8,000 meters and 38 above 7,000 meters) are known as the third Pole on Earth.
This trek consists of two parts: the first part begins with an excursion in Lhasa. Then we drive to Gyantse, Shigatse and Tingri via Sagya Monastery, the seat of the Sagyapa School of Tibetan Buddhism. Sagyapas and its reigning lamas ruled Tibet for nearly 100 years. It enshrines many priceless ancient cultural relics, such as Buddhist statues, Thankas, images, gold-written scriptures and porcelain items.
